At the 89th year of his life, his heart stopped.
Cult director George Danelia, known for such works as the films “I walk across Moscow”, “Mimino”, “Afonya” and many others, died this week. The official cause of death is cardiac arrest. He was 88 years old.
The director's wife, Galina Ivanovna, noted that the doctors had fought for his life, but could not do nothing. In late February, the star of the Soviet film industry was taken to the hospital with pneumonia and put it in an artificial coma. Then relatives hoped that the director would go on the mend - after a couple of days he was able to breathe on his own and understood those around him. However, Danelia’s health has not recovered.
It is noteworthy that in the past, the master already had problems with his lungs, and a few years ago he even survived clinical death.
